Lovely hotel for the money. Staff were accomodating and friendly. You couldn't hear the bar from the room either. The hotel was nice and quiet and had air con in the room as well. My only gripe was that I'm 6 foot 2 and my head was touching the ceiling when I was in the shower. I think this may have been because I was on the top floor.
“Great place to stay.” Just stayed here 1night on a fleeting visit after spending the day fishing off plymouth with friends. What can I say, Fantastic place to stay, clean spacious rooms, friendly staff and great food.Probably one of the best hotels I've stayed at,well done all. Would I stay here again. You bet👨👨👧👦👏👏👏

A beautiful, newly renovated B'n'B with 5* service from Brad and Gill, the owners. Just a couple of minutes walk into central Tavistock and we didn't find any issues in parking outside the hotel at all. Breakfast was fantastic. We would highly recommend staying here.
Without doubt the finest independently owned and run small hotel that I have stayed at in a long, long time. Beautifully appointed, comfortable and clean rooms, a generous choice of breakfast options which includes food that is superbly cooked. The friendly owners can't do enough to ensure that your stay is nothing short of perfect and that you will remember to come back another day...which I shall certainly do, I can't recommend this place enough!

Great old world hotel. Genuine period features and friendly, helpful staff. The hotel restaurant is amazing and was a welcome distraction from the aches of an entire day cycling in the area. Rambling layout with various bars and ante-rooms to explore and relax. Highly recommended this place.
Awesome meal. Beautiful food and great service. Compliments to the chef.

Gorgeous food with inventive Sunday menu and lovely presentation. Good friendly service. Not cheap, but lunch was so good that I didn't feel I'd overpaid. Comfy seating. The place fills up quickly so I would advise booking. Bar area is separate from the two dining areas. Reasonably comfortable and supportive seats. Charming building. Decent toilets. Small car park to the rear for approx. 10 cars, but Tavistock has many good value car parks 10 minute walk away, so not a major problem.
Visited on a Thursday evening for an anniversary meal, having booked in advance, as being local I knew they got busy. Very pleasant surroundings and good, imaginative food (if seemingly nuts featuring prominently in many dishes), but the service was disappointingly slow and varied...... It took far too long to take our order, and when we ordered drinks, the bottle of water arrived immediately, but after a further 15 minutes, we had to ask if we could have the £32 bottle of wine we'd ordered at the same time! All the staff seem to serve all tables, unlike most restaurants, plus they are often serving the more casual bar area too, meaning no dedicated service for diners in the restaurant. At these prices, much better service should be afforded diners - our experience was spoiled by service that didn't match the food.

Friendly welcome although not for dogs! Really wholesome and delicious homemade food and lots of choice. Lovely roaring wood burner and speedy service too. Really competitively priced and genuinely a great place to eat.
Great pub, good beer and steak and ale pie was delicious.

This was a birthday treat for me. We were greeted by the owner and escorted too our room. He left to make us tea which he served in the breakfast room in a comfortable seating area. The place was tastefully decorated and oh so clean. An extra grab rail was fitted into the shower to help me get safely in and out. I slept extremely well and enjoyed a breakfast second to none. Would certainly recommend this and go back.
Clean and well presented. Has a car park. Friendly proprietor

I stayed at The Hollies whilst doing the Devon Coast 2 Coast cycle ride. Although I only stayed for one night, it was a very pleasant experience. The room was very comfortable and nicely decorated with a large en-suite. We were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed a lovely cooked breakfast before leaving. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Hollies and will definitely stay there again if the opportunity arises.
We had a very pleasant stay at the Hollies. The room was well-decorated and very comfortable and the en-suite facilities excellent. Breakfast was an enjoyable meal, different every day and well-cooked. The owner was friendly and welcoming. We can definitely recommend this B&B as being extremely good value and a desirable place to stay.

Lovely little bed and breakfast, with a bit of parking space at the back of the property. Just two minutes walk from a beautiful little old town market of tavistock.
Lovely friendly welcome. Comfortable, homely & clean. I would highly recommend.
If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

These cottages have the most lovely views of Dartmoor, but they are also very handy for Tavistock town centre, which has some great little independent shops. I thought they were further out than they are, looking at the map before visiting but they are just up the hill, just out of the way enough that they are nice and peaceful. They are rather beautifully fitted out too. Re: the other review about railways: this is actually Tavistock North station - if you look at the proposed re-opening of the Plymouth line, if that happens, it will go in at the other end of the town!
We stayed in the Refreshment Hall for three nights.Everything is to a very high standard and Colin and Jenny were most welcoming. We all enjoyed it very much and hope to go back September 2011

Nice laid back site in beautiful countryside. Facilities need updating but the new owners are on the case. Owners friendly and helpful.
We have had a lovely stay at this very friendly family orientated site. The pitches are generous in size and screened off between them. The owners are constantly improving the facilities and the guests are actively encouraged to partipate in the feeding of the animals. We thoroughly recommend the Old Rectory whether you are a camper caravanner or want a cottage or pod.

Brilliant Holiday Park kids loved it. Spotless showers, friendly staff. We was lucky to see the worst thunder and lightening i have ever seen. Brilliant!!!
Well located beside the river with cleanest facilities that has been seen in GB. Very friendly staff - it was a nice stay :)
